Nurses administer medications as prescribed by the hospice physician, ensuring that patients receive the appropriate drugs in the right dosage and at the correct times.

If the patient has any wounds or skin issues, skilled nurses are trained to provide specialized wound care to promote healing and prevent infections.

Skilled nurses may help patients whom are unable to perform independent tasks with activities of daily living; such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.

Education and support is provided by the skilled nurse to the patient and their family, aiding in comprehending the care plan, addressing symptoms, and offering emotional solace throughout their end of life care.

Skilled nurses work in collaboration with the hospice team participating in care planning meetings and provides updates on the patient’s condition to ensure comprehensive end of life care. The hospice team includes the physician, social worker, counselor, chaplain, and volunteer.
